Earthquake vulnerability in the Himalaya by integrated multi-criteria decision models

چکیده

Himalayan mountains are one of the most seismo-tectonically active zones on surface earth. Recurring moderate and high magnitude earthquakes not uncommon in this region. This paper maps earthquake vulnerability region using integrated multi-criteria decision models. Factors which may influence a can be categorized social, geotechnical, structural, physical parameters. We have used analytical hierarchy process (AHP) approach to determine weights various parameters, were further develop for study area VIseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR), Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) methods. There is good correlation between estimated through AHP-VIKOR AHP-GRA Our analysis indicates that more than 12% under very-high vulnerability, whereas 44% population, about 43% buildings highly vulnerable hazards due earthquakes. The results would useful hazard mitigation infrastructure planning agencies working

An Optimum Selection of Simulated Geological Models by Multi-Point Geostatistics and Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Approaches; a Case Study in Sungun Porphyry-Cu deposit, Iran

An accurate modeling of sophisticated geological units has a substantial impact on designing a mine extraction plan. Geostatistical simulation approaches, via defining a variogram model or incorporating a training image (TI), can tackle the construction of various geological units when a sparse pattern of drilling is available. The variogram-based techniques (derived from two-point geostatistic...

APPROXIMATE ALGORITHM FOR THE MULTI-DIMENSIONAL KNAPSACK PROBLEM BY USING MULTIPLE CRITERIA DECISION MAKING

In this paper, an interesting and easy method to solve the multi-dimensional  knapsack problem is presented. Although it belongs to the combinatorial optimization, but the proposed method belongs to the decision making field in mathematics. In order to, initially efficiency values for every item is calculated then items are ranked by using Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDA).  Finally, ite...

Decision criteria for Earthquake Early Warning applications

The recent large earthquakes have emphasized the importance of earthquake loss mitigation and how earthquake early warning (EEW) systems can help. An EEW system detects an earthquake initiation based on a seismic sensor network and broadcasts a warning of the predicted location and magnitude shortly before an earthquake hits a site. The typical range of this lead time is around tens of seconds ...

Multi-Criteria Decision Support for Integrated Technique Assessment

The European Directive on the Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC 96/61/EG) calls for a cross media impact assessment of environmentally relevant installations. Thus, the concept of Integrated Technique Assessment, based on detailed mass and energy balances and a multi-criteria analysis, can be adapted to the determination of Best Available Techniques (BAT). Therefore, this paper ...
